St. Patrick’s Day Nails

16 Mar

Hi everyone! I am back with a cute and simple St. Patrick’s Day nail color combo. This is not the first time I have used these two colors together. If you want to see my first post with these colors click here. I didn’t have too much time to do my nails this past weekend but I still wanted to be in the St. Patrick’s Day spirit!

The two colors that I used were:

  • Pretty Edgy by Essie
  • Good As Gold by Essie

I did two coats of Pretty Edgy on all my nails except my ring finger. On my ring finger I did two coats of Good As Gold. I told you it was simple!

I hope everyone has a safe and happy St. Patrick’s Day tomorrow!

Valentine’s Day Striped Nails

8 Feb

Hi everyone! It’s been a while since I have posted a DIY nail post. Because Valentine’s Day is right around the corner I wanted to share with you a cute, easy and fun Valentine’s Day Striped Nail tutorial. I used two nail colors that I had on hand but the color possibilities are endless! Get creative!

For this tutorial you will need two nail colors of your choice, tweezers and nail tape. The main nail color that I chose was Status Symbol by Essie.

Status Symbol Nail Color

For the stripes I chose No Place Like Chrome by Essie.

No Place Like Chrome

I started by painting all my nails with Status Symbol, except my ring finger. On my ring finger I used No Place Like Chrome. Once it was dry I cut small pieces of nail tape and applied them to the nail with tweezers. Tip: Press the center of the nail tape to the center of the nail and then push the nail tape to the sides.

Next apply two or three coats of Status Symbol, after your last coat wait about 2 minutes and with tweezers slowly and carefully remove each piece of tape. And last but not least apply your top clear coat.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial! I want to wish everyone a Happy Valentine’s Day! I hope that special person in your life brings you lots of roses and chocolates!

Nail Color With Chills and Thrills

4 Sep

The other day  I went shopping for some new nail polish and if you have read my previous posts you know that when I go shopping it’s usually for pink nail polish! I think I might be a little obsessed with pink! But much to my surprise this one nail color in particular stood out the most! Let me introduce you to Chills & Thrills by Essie. It’s a beautiful blue with a hint of purple. I know what you are thinking, is she crazy!?! But the colors almost blended the day I wore my purple tank top!

This color covers nicely! Two coats were applied to get this look!

Nail Color: Van D’Go

17 Jul

I really like pink! Actually, let me rephrase that… I love pink! I love pink in every shade, light pink, dark pink, fuchsia basically any pink! So when I came across VAN D’GO by Essie I knew I had to get it! The color is so lovely, it’s a soft and delicate pink. I love this color!

However I do have to be honest and tell you that it’s a love hate situation with this color. It’s a bit tricky to apply because this color is very milky, therefore as you are applying the color it creates streaks, lots of them. The best way to apply this color is to load your brush up with lots of nail polish and with light pressure apply your coats. I used two coats.

All in all I really like this color however it does require a little practice and patience.

Nail Art Proves There is No Place Like Chrome

23 Jun

Hello everyone! This week I am back with another cute and simple nail art idea! I like this design because it’s fast and easy. You can also do this design with any two colors that complement each other.

I absolutely adore this color and it’s by far one of my favorite. Let me introduce you to I’m Indi-a Mood For Love by OPI. This color is very similar to fucshia.

The other color that I choose as an accent color is No Place Like Chrome by Essie. It’s a beautiful shiny and sparkly silver.

I used No Place Like Chrome on my ring finger only. I really like how it makes the manicure pop and take it out of the ordinary!

Also remember to check back next week for some more cute nail art ideas!

Nail Color that is Cute As A Button

15 Jun

Hello! I hope everyone has had a Happy Father’s Day! Earlier this afternoon we spent the day with my dad and now we are home watching the Heat game and truth be told they are not doing well at all! They are in the 3rd quarter and they are down by 20 points! Ouch…

Earlier today I did my nails, this week I don’t have a Nail Art design. But I still want to share with you an adorable color that I fell in love with! If you guys haven’t tried this color I suggest you do. It’s by Essie and it’s called Cute As A Button. The color comes close to a pink coral and is a great color for spring and summer!

Nail Art that’s Pretty Edgy

6 Jun

Hi guys! This week I am back with another fun, edgy and cute nail art design. It’s a pretty simple design to do and it looks so pretty!

Nail Art Pretty Edgy 1

The only extra tool that you will need is a nail dotting tool. I found this set on Amazon, it’s cheap and they have free shipping! I like that the set comes with different sizes of dots and that each stick has a different color which makes it easier to remember which size you like best by remembering that tool color.

Dotting Tool

This week I am using as my main color Pretty Edgy by Essie. I really liked this color. It’s a pretty green that is vibrant, however, it’s not too loud and not too dark.

As an accent color I used Good As Gold by Essie. I love this color, it’s so shiny and it was just what I was looking for!

On my ring finger I applied two coats of Pretty Edgy. When the nail polish was completely dry I went back with a dotting tool (I chose the yellow stick with the smallest dot) and I added dots down the center of my nail. I then continued to add dots to the left and to the right of that first row of dots.

I then finished off the manicure with a top coat of Seche Vite. I love this top coat because it dries my manicure faster, it prevents my nails from chipping and I have noticed that my manicure lasts longer. I hope you like this week’s nail art idea and color combo as much as I did! Share your nail art ideas with us on Instagram by using #homesweetsunshinenails. We look forward to looking at all your beautiful creations! Also remember to check back next week for some more cute nail art ideas!
